JAKARTA, June 18 — Mount Merapi National Park management announced that it planned to provide a selfie spot for visitors, The Jakarta Post reported today.

Head of the national park, Suwignyo, said the plan came about following an accident in May, which resulted in the death of climber Eri Yunanto while taking a selfie on one of the crests.

“That incident has encouraged us to set up a place for photos,” he said, before adding that he hoped that the move would reduce the number of climbers who took photos in dangerous places.

The newspaper said the selfie spot will be built approximately one-kilometre from the peak of Mount Merapi.
