SAN FRANCISCO, March 8 — The S-Port, Doctor Seuss horn, snorkel, snake, Mr. Snuffleupagus — all names for the woofer horn coiled up inside a Sonos Playbase TV amplifier.

Realising that some 70per cent of flatscreen TVs are stood on furniture, and not wall-mounted, Sonos’s product team set about creating a TV stand that could double as a wireless loudspeaker.

Over the course of a two-minute video, Sonos designers and engineers recap their process, touching on the aesthetic and audio standards they sought to maintain while creating the US$699 USD Playbase speaker. — AFP-Relaxnews
