KUALALUMPUR, March 28 ― Apple has finally rolled out iOS 16.4 which enables new features and fixes for supported iPhone models. If you’re using a 5G-capable iPhone, the new update also allows users to turn on 5G for non-Apple telco partners such as Unifi Mobile, Yoodo and Yes 5G.

Prior to this, only Apple telco partners such as Celcom, Digi and U Mobile could enable 5G connectivity on the iPhone. As revealed by YTL Communications CEO Wing K Lee, Apple devices are capable of supporting 5G but there’s a licensing deal with operators. Besides enabling 5G, the partnership will also provide the partner to sell Apple devices with a telco contract.

The ability to support non-Apple telco partners was spotted during the early beta releases of iOS 16.4.

In case you missed it, here’s the list of iPhone models that can support 5G:

• iPhone 12

• iPhone 12 Mini

• iPhone 12 Pro

• iPhone 12 Pro Max

• iPhone 13

• iPhone 13 Mini

• iPhone 13 Pro

• iPhone 13 Pro Max

• iPhone SE 3rd Gen

• iPhone 14

• iPhone 14 Plus

• iPhone 14 Pro

• iPhone 14 Pro Max

To enable 5G, just make sure to update your iPhone to iOS 16.4. If you haven’t received the update notification yet, just go to Settings > General > Software Update to update your iPhone manually. ― SoyaCincau
