KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — National young rider Danial Syahmi Ahmad Shahril has to rest for more than three weeks from competing in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the JuniorGP World Championship, due to avulsion fracture ankle.

The 21-year-old rider, who suffered the injury during the Red Bull Rookies Cup qualifying session in Jerez last week, however, underwent a successful four-hour operation at Dexeus University Hospital, Barcelona early this morning.

“I ask all Malaysians to pray for me and I can’t wait to get back on track as soon as possible. God willing, I will race again as soon as I recover,” said Danial Syahmi through an audio recording shared by ZK Racing.

The ZK Racing team crew also promised to accompany him throughout the recovery process, including when undergoing physiotherapy and further treatment.

The injury caused Danial Syahmi to miss the first round of the ongoing JuniorGP at Estoril Circuit, Portugal (Friday until tomorrow), and he also won’t be in action in the second round at Ricardo Tormo, Spain from May 19-21.

He is also unable to participate in the third round of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Le Mans, France which will be held next weekend (May 13-14). — Bernama
