KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Malaysia are satisfied with the venue preparations made so far for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, which will be held from May 5 to 17.

Malaysia’s chef de mission Datuk Mohd Nasir Ali said his visit to Phnom Penh last month showed that upgrading works at the venues were progressing according to plan.

“Preparations for the Cambodia SEA Games are going smoothly and rapidly. Competition venues are almost ready, leaving only the athletes village yet to be completed. But they have promised to get it ready before the games start.

“The venues and athletes village are near the main stadium, within a 10- to 15-minute walk. We are satisfied but have raised several issues like transport and halal food for the benefit of our athletes,” he told reporters after a SEA Games selection committee meeting at Wisma OCM here today.

Mohd Nasir expressed confidence that the mix of young and senior athletes Malaysia would be sending for the games could do the country proud.

At the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi last year, Malaysia finished six overall with 39 gold, 45 silver and 90 bronze medals, surpassing their target of 36-35-75. — Bernama
