KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh thanked the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) for reducing the prices of its “open” tickets for two group-stage matches in the upcoming Mitsubishi Electric AFF Cup 2022.
At the same time, she also asked for a further price cut so that more fans could watch the games in the stadium and boost Malaysia’s appreciation of sports.
“Thank you @FAM_Malaysia for the effort to reduce ticket prices, but please consider reducing the price of the ‘open’ tier so that there can be an increase in the attendance of sports fans and the promotion of sports culture,” she said in a brief Twitter post today.
The matches will see Malaysia facing off against Laos on December 24 and Singapore on January 3.
Yeoh’s request came after FAM announced a price cut yesterday following complaints.
Currently, prices for the “grand slam” tickets are RM70 (reduced from RM100), the “premium” tickets are RM60 (reduced from RM70), and “open” tickets are RM45 (reduced from RM50).
The children’s ticket prices remain unchanged at RM10.
