PETALING JAYA, Feb 1 — S. Balachandran and Aminuddin Hussin were named today as assistant coaches for the Harimau Malaya squad.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the appointment of the two individuals had received the consent of FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and they would begin their respective duties soon.
Balachandran is former national Under 16 (U-16) coach while Aminuddin is former U-23 assistant coach.
“Their names were proposed by the head coach (Tan Cheng Hoe) himself. They are appointed based on their vast experiences and I am confident the two of them will help Cheng Hoe in preparing the national squad for the AFF Suzuki Cup Football Championship,” he said.
Hamidin spoke to reporters after attending the FAM Security Committee meeting at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya, here.
He said the national team will open their 2018 international campaign against Mongolia at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Feb 23. — Bernama
