SINGAPORE, Nov 5 — The Singapore government will establish a network called SG for Humanity to strengthen collective efforts to support those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) said the initiative aims to go beyond mobilising funds and resources by exploring additional ways to strengthen the last-mile delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need in Gaza.

It will also broaden opportunities for Singaporeans from all communities to contribute to the nationwide effort.

“MCCY will facilitate the network by bringing together four established humanitarian organisations; Humanity Matters (HM), Mercy Relief (MR), Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF), and Singapore Red Cross (SRC) as its initial partners.

“SG for Humanity will harness the organisations’ respective experiences, capabilities and overseas partnerships, and provide a common platform for further collaborations or new initiatives,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

According to MCCY, participating non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will continue to lead their respective humanitarian programmes and engagements, while SG for Humanity will facilitate closer collaboration.

It will identify opportunities for joint initiatives, strengthen partnerships with overseas humanitarian organisations and provide more opportunities for Singaporeans across communities to contribute through fundraising and volunteering.

“The Singapore government will complement these efforts by facilitating engagement with overseas authorities and humanitarian partners,” it added.

Since October 2023, the Singapore government, humanitarian organisations, and the community have contributed over S$25 million (RM79.3 million) of aid to those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, supporting essential needs such as food, healthcare, clean water, shelter and education.

In 2025, the Singapore government provided S$1 million in seed funding, distributed equally among HM, MR, RLAF and SRC to support their public fundraising and humanitarian assistance efforts for Gaza, MYCC said. — Bernama
