KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Blackpink members Jennie and Jisoo are contributing songs to two upcoming animated films, Netflix’s Steps and Paramount Pictures’ The Angry Birds Movie 3, respectively.
According to a Yonhap report carried by The Korea Times today, Jennie recorded a song titled Someone to Hold for Steps, marking her first contribution to an animated film soundtrack, her agency OA Entertainment said.
Separately, The Hollywood Reporter revealed in an exclusive report on November 3 that Jisoo had co-written an original song titled Sun Showers for The Angry Birds Movie 3.
Jennie’s song accompanies an emotional sequence in Steps, which reimagines the Cinderella fairy tale from the perspective of her stepsisters, according to Netflix.
The singer said she enjoyed working on her first animated film soundtrack and appreciated the warmth and personalities of the characters.
Her song has also received a nomination in the Song – Animated Film category at the 2026 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Netflix has scheduled Steps for release on November 20, with Ali Wong, Stephanie Hsu and Amanda Seyfried among its voice cast.
Meanwhile, Jisoo’s Sun Showers is featured in the latest trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, which was released earlier this week.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the song’s artwork features Shumon, a small dustball character Jisoo originally drew while attending middle school, before her debut as a K-pop star.
“With ‘Sun Showers,’ I wanted to capture the movie’s playful and bright energy through a fun, feel-good song that makes people want to smile and dance along,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
The upcoming film follows Red, the franchise’s main character, as he navigates fatherhood while attempting to save the world.
Paramount Pictures has scheduled the film for a December 23 theatrical release, although Malaysian cinema chain TGV Cinemas currently lists December 31 as its local release date.
