KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 — Taiwanese comedian Mickey Huang survived a suicide attempt after allegedly slashing his wrist on yesterday afternoon.
Quoting a manager of Huang’s wife, TVBS reported that the 51-year-old, currently admitted at the Taipei Chang Gung Memorial Hospital intensive care, had woken up but could not communicate.
“He is out of danger. Thank you for everyone’s concern,” the unidentified manager reportedly said.
Huang had earlier admitted to sexual harassment allegations made by social media influencer Zofia.
Taking to social media, CNA reported that Huang uploaded three videos to his Facebook page expressing regret for disappointing people’s expectations and violating their trust.
Huang said that during the recent wave of #MeToo incidents reported in Taiwan, he felt “restless and very upset”.
He added that since meeting his wife, Taiwanese actress Summer Meng, he has been working hard to change himself, especially after his wife gave birth to their daughter but it was too late.
Zofia had on early Monday morning alleged that a senior show business figure forcibly kissed her in a car and hotel room when she was 17-year-old.
She alleged that the entertainer also convinced her to pose for topless photos, claiming that the images were for an “art exhibition”.
The influencer said she originally wanted to forget the incident but kept seeing the celebrity making public appearances that painted him in a positive light which reminded her of the traumatic experience, Taiwan News reported.
While she did not directly name the entertainer, she did leave clues that pointed to Huang, including the entertainer has a newborn daughter, is a TV host, and collects figurines.
In the videos, which has been deleted, Huang also exposed drug abuse and scandals of 18 Taiwan celebrities.
He first took a swipe at sisters Barbie and Dee Hsu and claimed they pressured him to do drugs, Asia One reported.
Other celebrities mentioned in his expose include host Sam Tseng and singer-actress Ariel Sha, accusing Tseng of once drinking and smoking backstage, and claiming Sha had a relationship with him 14 years ago but refused to acknowledge it.
He later spilled the beans on popular host Jacky Wu, saying how he had multiple women surrounding him to the extent that he doesn’t know “what his view towards romantic relationships is anymore”.
“Jacky has been bold in speaking up about things because he is the most popular host and everybody listens to him,” he reportedly said.
Huang also expressed his surprise at how some celebrities escaped scrutiny despite having done scandalous things.
One of whom, he claimed, is a “married singer who had an affair with a producer”, and another one is “a friend in theatre who also had an affair”.
He said he has been adversely affected by the hypocrisy and unpunished misdemeanours of other celebrities in show business.
“Everybody continued living well just because it was not a sexual harassment case. So I decided I don’t care, I want to reveal everything.”
