KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Action-comedy sequel Polis Evo 3 topped the local box office on its opening day yesterday.
The blockbuster starring Shaheizy Sam and Zizan Razak took in RM1.3 million for its sneak preview raked in another RM2.1 million on opening day, collecting RM3.4 million in total.
The third instalment of the Polis Evo franchise beat international films like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Evil Dead Rise, and doubled the opening-day sales of the action mega-blockbuster Fast X.
Executive producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad thanked all the Polis Evo fans from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei and the cast and crew in a statement yesterday.
She believed the film will be able to earn more in the coming weeks thanks to the strong support from the audience during its sneak preview.
Currently, the cast and crew of the film are on a nationwide roadshow and will be meeting fans from Terengganu to Melaka.
Directed by Syafiq Yusof, Polis Evo 3 sees buddy-cop duo Khai and Sani on the hunt to stop former partner turned madman bomber, Reza, who plans to destroy Kuala Lumpur.
Polis Evo 3 is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
