KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — All tickets for Cantopop star Jacky Cheung’s six concert dates here in August were snapped up in just two hours.

Known as Hong Kong’s God of Songs, the 61-year-old is scheduled to perform at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil for all shows.

Taking to social media, concert organiser Unusual Entertainment Pte Ltd confirmed tickets were sold out at noon.

“Thank you for your overwhelming support! All tickets to ‘Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour’ Malaysia are now sold out,” the company shared in the post.

The announcement came following allegations that some had gotten their hands on the tickets as early as Thursday evening, even though ticketing only started this morning at 10am.

Fans who failed to get the tickets vented their frustrations against the organiser.

Facebook user Rayne Lee claimed that half of the tickets had been sold out even before ticketing began.

She added that scalpers who got the tickets earlier had begun selling it on China’s social media and e-commerce platform Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book).

Responding to Lee, Lemon Kohyee said it was unfair on fans who waited in queue patiently.

“(This) is really unfair to us who really follow the rules and queue online for hours,” the Facebook user lamented.

Another Facebook user Seanw Sean questioned the truth behind the news.

“Cannot believe loh. Coldplay one show needs three hours to sell out, Jacky Cheung six shows finish in two hours?” he said.

This is Cheung’s first concert here in five years. It will be held on August 11 to 13 and August 18 to 20.

It was previously reported that Cheung’s stopover was part of the 61-year-old’s world tour that kicked off in Macau on June 9.

The last time Cheung performed in Malaysia was in 2018 as part of his A Classic Tour, where he staged three sold-out concerts at Axiata Arena.
