KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — Since her high-profile defamation trial ended in June last year, Amber Heard has reportedly quit Hollywood.
The 37-year-old actress’ decision to do so comes after her controversial defamation dispute with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
According to Daily Mail, the Aquaman star who has been keeping a low profile had quietly relocated to Spain with her two-year-old child, Oonagh.
A source also shared that one of the reasons for Heard’s relocation is because she wants to focus on raising her surrogate daughter.
“She’s bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise.
“I don’t think she is in any hurry to return to work or to Hollywood, but she will probably come back when the time is right for the right project,” the source said.
She has also sold her home in Yucca Valley, California in July last year and has moved permanently to a new home outside of Madrid.
Heard had a couple of acting roles before her resignation from Hollywood which included Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, to be released in December as well as thriller film In The Fire, which came out last year.
After a six-week long trial between the former couple, Depp was awarded more than US$10 million (RM44 million) in damages while Heard only received US$2 million (RM8.8 million) in a countersuit.
The defamation trial was heavily covered on social media, with multiple memes and hateful comments attacking Heard’s image as a purported victim.
The defamation suit was over an op-ed the actress wrote in 2018 about being a victim of domestic violence.
