KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — The last minute cancellation of a Hari Raya shopping event has thrust actor and businessman Boy Iman into the limelight, for all the wrong reasons.

Boy Iman or his real name Noruliman A Rahman took to Instagram to clear the air over his role in the Hoorey X Fest Raya as sales and marketing director after his name was unflatteringly mentioned several times on social media with regards to the cancellation.

In an Instagram post yesterday said that he is not responsible for the decision by event organiser, Tenview (M) Sdn Bhd, and clarified that he was just a worker hired by the company.

“I’m not qualified to speak, not to mention to give out statements on behalf of the company which is not owned by me.

“I’m not their CEO and I’m also not responsible for handling the company’s account, its path, its SOP and in their decision making as the company is still run by a legitimate owner, board of directors and CEO.

“I’m just one of their workers living on the salary based on the offer letter and letter of appointment I’ received, and based on the job scope that was listed in it which was signed by me and the company’s CEO,” he wrote on the post.

Boy Iman said he wanted to avoid confusion and slander against him and inform the public of his position.

He also said that he is ready to meet with the authorities to give his statement, and hinted via his Instagram story that he will be taking legal action against those spreading lies about him.

The Hoorey X Fest Raya mega shopping event, supposed to be held from April 19 until April 21 at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur made headlines after it was cancelled just a day before the event.

Over 100 local celebrity entrepreneurs who had signed up as vendors of the 72-hour event were affected by the cancellation announcement which was made by the venue provider.

Tenview chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Aliff Hakim said main sponsors had pulled out at the last minute, resulting in them being unable to pay for the venue, reported Astro Awani.

Aliff added that those who had signed up as vendors were given two options to either get their refunds or wait for a later date.

Local band frontman Ayie from Floor 88, who was one of the vendors at the event told mStar that he stands to lose nearly RM10,000 for his investment in preparation for the event.

He added that many vendors were also affected and one of his friends had burnt through almost RM20,000 due to the last minute cancellation.
