KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — Jungkook of South Korean boyband BTS has donated RM3.3 million to aid children suffering from illnesses.
Seoul National University (SNU) Hospital released a statement yesterday stating that Jungkook had given 1 billion Korean won (RM3.3 million) to its children’s hospital.
His donation will be used for medical care of child patients of low-income families and to develop SNU’s Comprehensive Care Center enterprise.
“I hope that it will be of some help to children who are suffering, and I will support them so that they can smile healthily.” the singer said in a statement.
Jungkook’s donation garnered the praise of many BTS superfans known as ‘Army’ on social media, moved by his generosity and using his large platform to help the needy.
BTS has given group donations to various charity organisations, Korean education institutions and disaster relief funds to bring positive change.
In 2020, the members donated RM4 million to organisations related to the Black Lives Matter anti-racism campaign and Live Nation to support live entertainment staff during the pandemic.
Currently, BTS is on hiatus as all members are to be enlisted in the Korean army to fulfil their mandatory service.
Members Jin and recently J-hope have been enrolled in the army.
Jungkook has been gaining attention after being Calvin Klein’s new global ambassador and has been speculated to make a solo debut.
