KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 — The sons of famous local singer Datuk Jamal Abdillah bagged RM100,000 after being crowned champion of reality singing show, Famili Duo recently.
The brothers Yamani Abdillah and Ahmad Zaki Yamani have decided to give their winnings to their respective mothers.
Yamani is Jamal Abdillah's son from his marriage with Noraina Mohd Yusof while Zaki is his son from his third marriage to Fatimatuzahrah Samad.
According to Yamani, 22, none of their success was possible without their mothers.
“Our mums have been our greatest supporter since the beginning. They have endlessly prayed and given us motivation,” he told Utusan.
“So we want to dedicate our win to both our mothers including all of our monetary prize. We believe that by doing this, the return will be threefold Insya-Allah,” Yamani said.
The duo was also thrilled that Jamal came to catch their performance during the final showcase at Plaza Alam Sentral last weekend.
“This is the first time ever Babah came to see our performance. We were really touched but we were nervous as well as he was right in front of us.
“We would also like to dedicate this win to Babah as he would often give us advice throughout the whole competition.
“Little did we expect to win and now we can feel proud of this achievement which is his (Jamal's) as well,” he said.
Thankful for the opportunity to be in Famili Duo, Zaki said the programme helped him to rekindle his relationship with his brother.
According to Zaki, 16, he hasn't been in touch with his brother for some time before joining the competition.
“After a long time of not seeing each other, we finally get the chance to meet through this programme.
“From the first week until the last, we realised how close we were when we was little. But now I'm his 'bully',” Zaki joked.
For the first segment of their final showcase, the brothers performed Potret, a song by local band Akim and The Majistret along with Pelukan Angkasa by band Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG).
For their second segment, the duo performed Medley Hutang by Floor 88 and Kau Pun Sama by local singer Syamel.
Meanwhile, second place went to television personality Ayda Jebat and her singer sister, Fyna Jebat who received a cash prize of RM20,000.
Third place went to singers Wani Kayrie and Bella Astillah who won a cash prize of RM15,000.
