KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung, currently serving an 18-day sentence for driving under influence (DUI), has requested to change the prison in which he is serving the sentence after alleging he was being threatened.

The 41-year-old was initially sent to Lai Chi Kok Correctional Institution, in Kowloon on December 22 after failing to overturn his sentence, but requested to change as he was being threatened, hk01 reported.

He has since been moved to Stanley Prison to serve out the sentence, which will end on January 8.

It was previously reported that Yeung had lost control of his car and slammed into a concrete block on the side of Magazine Gap Road, a winding road in the affluent Peak district in August 2020.

He was charged with refusing to provide a blood sample, careless driving, and excessive tinting of his car windows.

Meanwhile, topick.hket reported that Yeung’s girlfriend, Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Lisa Ch’ng, has yet to visit him at Stanley Prison.

Yeung can only receive visitors twice during his 18-days incarceration with the next date in January before his release on January 8.
