KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — Social media users are abuzz that Chinese pianist Li Yundi will be making a comeback after being detained by police for soliciting the services of sex workers.

They came to the conclusion after the 40-year-old posted a clip of him playing the piano on his Weibo on Tuesday (December 6).

This is the first time this year the disgraced musician posted a clip of him playing the instrument. The last time he posted such a clip was on October 8 last year.

In the post, Li wrote “yong chui bu xiu” (immortal) and some social media users linked it to remembering former president Jiang Zemin, who passed away recently, Mirror Media reported.

Others said he is due to perform in Australia next November hence the clip was to pave the way for his return.

Many of his fans said they missed him a lot.

“It has been 411 days, I miss you,” one social media user wrote while another commented seeing the post brings back memories.

Other cheeky social media users expressed hope that Taiwanese singer Wang Leehom would have Li accompany him in his concert, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas next month.

Wang had previously been rumoured to be dating Li but the gossip had since been shot down by both parties.

Prior to his arrest, Li is known for a positive public image.

He has been awarded the titles of “China’s Top Ten Youth Leaders” and “National May Fourth Youth Ambassador”.

Li was also the youngest pianist to win the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition in 2000, and served as a judge for the competition in 2015.
