KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — The fate of popular Indonesian rock band Ungu’s 26th anniversary concert will be decided on Tuesday, after the date of the show clashed with that of Malaysia’s 15th General Election, announced three days ago by the Election Commission.
Suria Records Sdn Bhd (SRC) promotions manager Mickey Sharum was reported by Harian Metro saying that a special meeting involving SRC and organisers Star Planet would take into account the worries of fan who have already purchased tickets for the concert to be held over two days on November 18 and 19.
“When the Election Commission announced November 19 as the date for GE15, we were shocked as the date clashed with Ungu’s show here,” he said.
“We understand the worries of fans who have bought tickets as well as various parties involved in the concert.
“Hence, a special meeting will be held on Tuesday to discuss the matter.”
Mickey said an announcement would be made soon as there were many factors to consider as many would have to head home to cast their ballot.
“We also worry about the presence of the crew and the media, but we have to take into account that Ungu has a packed schedule due to their ongoing tour.”
Ungu 26th Anniversary Concert Live In Malaysia 2022 was initially scheduled to be held at the STAR Convention & Exhibition Centre, Menara PGRM, Cheras for just November 18, but an additional date of November 19 was added due to overwhelming demand.
