HONG KONG, Oct 1 — The teaser trailer for the third instalment of the popular kung fu franchise “Ip Man” is here — and it doesn’t disappoint.
Donnie Yen returns as the famed Wing Chun grand master in the Wilson Yip-directed flick.
“Ip Man 3” will pit him against a US property developer, portrayed by former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, who issues the challenge: “Let’s see whose fist is the fastest. Yours or mine?”
The movie will also focus on his relationship with his greatest pupil, Bruce Lee.
It is understood that the filmmakers have created a completely CGI version of the martial arts legend, after failing to find an actor worthy enough to fill his shoes.
The move, however, has not been without its controversy.
Bruce Lee Enterprises (BLE) said it intends to stop film studio Pegasus from including the CGI version of Lee in the final cut of the movie.
Pegasus countered by saying Lee’s brother Robert, who worked as a consultant on the film, owns the star’s intellectual property rights.
At the time of writing, it remains unclear if the CGI Bruce Lee will be featured in “Ip Man 3”, as there is no sign of him in the trailer.
Rising star Max Zhang will also star in the movie, along with Lynn Hung, Simon Yam and Louis Fan who are reprising their roles.
The highly anticipated “Ip Man 3” will open on Christmas Eve in Hong Kong.
