LOS ANGELES, Sept 3 — Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino will receive this year’s Cologne Film Prize, a lifetime achievement award, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sorrentino, who won an Oscar for his 2013 “The Great Beauty,” will pick up the award on the closing night of the Cologne Conference on October 1.

The award also comes with a US$28,000 (RM118,745) cash prize.

Some of the previous winners of the film award include Lars von Trier, David Lynch, Francois Ozon and the Dardenne brothers.

Sorrentino’s latest film, “Youth,” starring Harvey Keitel and Michael Caine, will start off the Cologne Conference on September 25. — AFP-Relaxnews
