PARIS, April 15 — Mia Wasikowska, Julianne Moore, Robert Pattinson and John Cusack lead the all-star cast of David Cronenberg’s satire drama, which is likely to make its debut at the 67th Cannes Film Festival this May.
Uploaded to YouTube, the trailer offers a preview of the Canadian filmmaker’s latest feature since “Cosmopolis,” which also starred Pattinson. Set in Hollywood, “Maps to the Stars” revolves around a gallery of characters who are haunted by the past.
Mia Wasikowska plays the central character, Agatha Weiss, who has just been released from a psychiatric hospital and befriends a limo driver and aspiring actor (Robert Pattinson). Her father, played by John Cusack, is a therapist and life coach whose clients include a famous actress, Havana Segrand, played by Julianne Moore. Olivia Williams, Sarah Gadon and Evan Bird are also in the cast.
Even after the release of this trailer, details on the plot of “Maps to the Stars” remain vague. While the film does not yet have a US release date, it is scheduled to arrive in French theaters on May 21, in the midst of the Cannes Film Festival, suggesting that the film could be among those screened at the prestigious event.
