KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 ― Bursa Malaysia stayed mixed at mid-morning amid continuous selling in selected heavyweight stocks.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 3.70 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 1,453.96 from yesterday’s close of 1,457.66.

The index opened 5.03 points weaker at 1,452.63.

The market breadth was positive with gainers leading decliners 378 to 352, while 412 counters were unchanged, 1,232 untraded and 11 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.55 billion units worth RM865.65 million.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank lost four sen to RM8.87, Public Bank slipped two sen to RM4.18 and Petronas Chemicals shaved one sen to RM7.29.

CIMB added four sen to RM5.61 and TNB gained two sen to RM10.16.

Of the actives, Ekovest edged up four sen to 59.5 sen, Iskandar Waterfront City climbed eight sen to 77 sen and Malaysian Resources Corp put on two sen to 48.5 sen. UEM Sunrise jumped seven sen to 92 sen while TWL was flat at three sen.

On the index board, the FBMT 100 declined 9.29 points to 10,427.47, the FBM Emas Index dropped 3.91 points to 10,762.09 and the FBM ACE edged down 7.64 points to 5,198.29.

The FBM Emas Shariah improved by 29.77 points to 11,029.70 and the FBM 70 widened by 62.14 points to 14,310.85.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index increased by 0.77 of a point to 174.46, the Plantation Index expanded by 11.03 points to 6,967.70, while the Financial Services Index slumped by 111.58 points to 16,208.38. ― Bernama
