KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Gas Malaysia Bhd’s net profit in the second quarter of the financial year ended 2023 (2Q FY2023) decreased by 8.9 per cent to RM97.81 million versus RM107.34 million in the same period last year.
However, revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2023, improved 13.7 per cent to RM2.02 billion from RM1.78 billion previously, the natural gas distribution company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
“This was in line with the higher average natural gas selling price, in tandem with global market price, mitigated by lower volume of natural gas sold during the current quarter,” it said.
For the first half of 2023, Gas Malaysia’s net profit declined 2.9 per cent to RM192.91 million, but revenue widened 25.3 per cent to RM4.46 billion year-on-year.
The company also declared a first interim dividend of 5.72 sen per share on the 1.28 billion ordinary shares amounting to RM73.44 million in respect of the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023, to be paid on Oct 27, 2023. — Bernama
