KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — The Malaysian Tourism Agency Association (Mata) will be organising the Asia Haj, Umrah and Islamic Tourism Conference and Exhibition (Aitex) 2023 from September 13 to 15 to introduce the Islamic tourism concept.
Mata president Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun said in a statement today, the event which is slated to take place at Sunway Resort Hotel, Selangor provides tourism operators with a marketplace to conduct business with their counterparts from all over Asia, while visitors can purchase umrah and Muslim tour packages offered by local travel agencies.
Meanwhile, a conference on September 13 to 14 will discuss topics related to haj, umrah and Islamic tourism and disclose the new umrah and haj law enforced by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Haj and Umrah, he said.
He said as the haj and umrah industry moves to the digital world, various new applications will also be introduced to tourism operators and visitors during the event.
“The conference will also discuss in depth the Islamic tourism industry, especially in Malaysia and internationally,” he added.
Mohd Khalid said the World Islamic Tourism Awards Night will also be held on September 15 in conjunction with Aitex 2023 to recognise and appreciate individuals and organisations that excel in the Islamic tourism industry. — Bernama
