KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning amid cautious trading due to concerns about volatility in the global markets.
At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 7.49 points to 1,403.49 from Thursday’s close of 1,410.98. It had opened 0.15 of-a-point higher at 1,411.13.
On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers 391 to 238, while 393 counters were unchanged, 1,251 untraded and 11 others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 1.17 billion units worth RM582.76 million.
Among the heavyweights, MISC was flat at RM7.16, Maybank trimmed four sen to RM8.45, Public Bank went down three sen to RM3.92, CIMB eased two sen to RM5.19, TNB contracted five sen to RM9.51 and Petronas Chemicals weakened by seven sen to RM6.73.
As for the actives, Careplus rose one sen to 34.5 sen, SMRT advanced 3.5 sen to 55.5 sen, DS Sigma jumped six sen to 45 sen, Top Glove was flat at RM1.02, Hong Seng Consolidated was down half-a-sen to 13 sen, and Computer Forms lessened by 3.5 sen to 31.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 44.87 points to 10,292.18, the FBMT 100 Index gave up 44.72 points to 9,984.45, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index reduced 36.07 points to 10,634.47.
The FBM 70 Index dwindled 24.39 points to 13,364.79, and the FBM ACE Index discounted 32.85 points to 5,281.80.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 77.54 points lower at 15,488.61, the Industrial Products and Services Index slid 0.90 of-a-point to 166.27, and the Energy Index slid 1.72 points to 809.53.
The Plantation Index narrowed 44.76 points to 6,724.75, and the Transportation and Logistics Index shrank 2.05 points to 904.10. — Bernama
