KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 15 — In a bid to increase sales of Perlis’ renowned Harumanis mangoes, the state’s agriculture department has appointed Kayangan Agro Farm Sdn Bhd as its exclusive partners for marketing and distribution of the fruit under the brand name “Kayangan Harumanis”.
In a statement today, Perlis state agriculture department director Hafizuddin Othman said the deal would allow Malaysians to ensure they were obtaining genuine Harumanis mangoes when purchasing from the brand.
“Perlis Harumanis mangoes are renowned for their extraordinary taste and refined quality that comes by being grown in Perlis’ unique sub-climate,” he said.
The deal is set to last for three years, with an option a two-year extension.
Kayangan Agro Farm president Datuk Farid Yusof said that at least RM35 million will be invested into the company over the next five years to support its ventures.
In May last year, Agriculture Department director-general, Datuk Mohd Nasir Warris said that RM22 million worth of Harumanis mangoes had been sold in the month of April alone in that year.
