SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — The Selangor Palace has expressed serious concern over allegations that an individual had impersonated the Raja Muda of Selangor’s personal bodyguard to deceive members of the public for financial gain.

In a statement, the Office of the Sultan of Selangor said it had received reports concerning the alleged impersonation, which involved purported deals for land and luxury cars.

“The Selangor Palace administration takes this matter seriously and has referred it to the Royal Malaysia Police for a thorough, fair and transparent investigation.

“The palace will not protect anyone found to be involved in the case,” it said.

The palace also urged the public to verify with its administration any claims by individuals purporting to represent or have connections with the royal household before entering into transactions.

It stressed the importance of checking the authenticity of such claims to avoid falling victim to fraudulent dealings.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that a police report was lodged on October 15 by the Sultan of Selangor’s Security Control Office at Istana Mestika over the alleged impersonation.

“The report concerns a post on Threads by the account holder ‘dwan_hamid’, alleging that a Malay man had posed as an aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Raja Muda of Selangor and used His Highness’ photograph to deceive members of the public in property and vehicle transactions, and was suspected of taking money from them.

“An investigation paper has been opened under Section 420 of the Penal Code, and efforts are under way to trace the suspect,” he said in a statement today.

Shazeli also advised the public to remain vigilant and verify claims through official channels before making financial transactions to avoid falling victim to scams. — Bernama
