KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — DAP representatives must meet strict key performance indicators (KPIs) or risk losing their candidacy in the next general election (GE16), party secretary-general Anthony Loke said today.

According to Berita Harian, Loke stressed that all DAP lawmakers must serve with integrity, discipline and commitment.

He cautioned that those who fall short of the party’s standards might be denied their candidacy letters when the next election comes around.

“If they fail to achieve the set KPIs, they will not receive the candidacy letter to contest in the upcoming election,” he said during the opening of the 24th Perak DAP Convention at the Ipoh Convention Centre.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming was also present at the event.

To enforce these standards, Loke explained that the party operates a rigorous monitoring system designed to keep representatives accountable and ensure they deliver for the public.

The evaluation covers a range of areas, including grassroots involvement, constituency work, community service and party activities, with a strong emphasis on a lawmaker’s physical presence in their area.

Loke noted that this monitoring framework applies continuous pressure on elected officials to live up to the mandate entrusted to them by voters.

“I believe the system we implemented is very effective,” he said, adding that Perak DAP’s representatives remain highly active on the ground.

He added that while the monitoring mechanism is applied nationwide, individual states maintain their own specific approaches.

“What I want to emphasise is that the Perak DAP monitoring system is very strict,” he said.

“I believe this approach has a positive impact when our representatives remain active on the ground. If there are any weaknesses, we will ensure improvements are made.”

Separately, when asked about how Pakatan Harapan will divide seats for the upcoming Melaka state election, Loke stated that the matter has already been settled at the state level.
