KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — Jaya Grocer has warned customers not to respond to fake promotional posts offering gold bars, iPhones and other prizes after its Instagram account was compromised.
The supermarket chain said the posts, which purported to advertise an “Anniversary Promo” and directed users to a Telegram account, were not published by the company.
“Jaya Grocer is not running these promotions,” it said in a notice on its official Facebook page.
The company urged members of the public not to click on any links contained in the posts, contact the Telegram account or make any payments.
Those who have already responded to the posts were advised to contact their banks immediately and lodge a police report.
Jaya Grocer said it was working to regain control of its Instagram account and would issue further updates once available.
“We are working to regain control of the account and will provide updates as soon as possible,” it said.
