KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — A 14-year-old Form Two student died last night after being found unconscious at a school hostel in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, amid allegations from his family that he had been bullied.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin confirmed the incident and said further details would be released soon, the New Straits Times reported.
According to the report, the student was found unconscious at the hostel before being taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah, where he was pronounced dead.
His body was subsequently transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for a post-mortem examination.
Berita Harian reported separately that a woman claiming to be the boy’s aunt had posted about his death on Threads last night, alleging that he had been assaulted while at the school hostel.
The woman said she learnt of her nephew’s death after receiving a call from her younger sister, who is the boy’s mother.
“Angah called me earlier, crying, saying her son had died after being beaten at the school hostel.
“Everyone is now on the way to Kuala Pilah Hospital,” she wrote, according to Berita Harian.
In a subsequent post, the woman said the boy’s body had initially been at Kuala Pilah Hospital before being transferred to Seremban for a post-mortem.
She also alleged that a Form Four student had been detained in connection with the case.
Police have not publicly confirmed the alleged detention.
In another post this morning, the woman said the post-mortem examination was scheduled for noon.
