SERDANG, Aug 29 — Exhibition Hall A (Hall A) at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) was temporarily closed today following a minor incident involving smoke and an unpleasant odour at 4.50pm.

According to a statement posted on the official Expo MAHA 2026 Facebook page, the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) was called to the scene to carry out further checks as a precautionary measure.

“To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, members of the public and exhibitors in Hall A are advised to calmly evacuate the hall with immediate effect until further notice,” it said.

It said Hall A would only be reopened after the authorities had confirmed that it was safe, adding that the safety of visitors, exhibitors and personnel remained the organisers’ top priority.

“We take this matter seriously and greatly appreciate your cooperation and patience. Further updates will be provided from time to time,” it said.

The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) is being held at MAEPS from Aug 28 to Sept 6, bringing together about 2,000 exhibitors and targeting more than four million visitors. — Bernama
