VLADIVOSTOK, Aug 13 — Resuming direct air travel remains a priority in cooperation between Russia and Malaysia, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov said at a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission, which he co-chairs, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
The fifth meeting of the Joint Russian-Malaysian Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation opened in Vladivostok on Thursday.
“Transport and logistics links are steadily developing, and new maritime transportation routes have been opened between our countries. Resuming direct flights remains a priority,” Falkov said.
He said tourist exchanges show positive dynamics. Last year, a record 140,000 Russian citizens visited Malaysia. The number of Malaysian tourists in Russia is also growing.
“Digital technology is another promising area. We know that Malaysia is actively developing in this area. Russian companies are ready to share their expertise in digitalisation and urban development. We believe it would be useful to establish a direct exchange of experience between the cities and regions of our countries on implementing smart city solutions,” Falkov said.
He noted the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. The minister also highlighted progress in strengthening educational ties. — Bernama-Sputnik/Ria Novosti
