PUTRAJAYA, Aug 12 — Malaysia and Saudi Arabia today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the judicial field.
The MoU was signed by Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaysia Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh and Saudi Arabian Minister of Justice Sheikh Dr Waleed Mohammed Alsmani at the Palace of Justice here.
The MoU signing, witnessed by Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, was held in conjunction with Sheikh Dr Waleed’s official visit to Malaysia.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Chief Registrar, the MoU provides a framework for closer cooperation in various areas, including civil case management, judicial technology and digitalisation, the exchange of practical experience and publicly available judicial information, institutional visits and regular exchanges.
It said the MoU marked an important milestone in Malaysia-Saudi Arabia judicial relations by providing a structured platform for closer institutional engagement, knowledge-sharing and continued cooperation towards the efficient administration of justice.
“The Malaysian Judiciary looks forward to the successful implementation of the areas of cooperation set out in the MoU and to further strengthening the longstanding ties between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia,” the statement said.
On the visit, the statement said it reflected the longstanding cordial relations between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia as well as their shared commitment to strengthening judicial cooperation and knowledge-sharing.
The programme also included a courtesy call on Tun Wan Ahmad Farid followed by a judicial dialogue and experience sharing session focusing on Malaysia’s judicial approach to sexual offences against children and the digitalisation of the Judiciary through the e-Court system. — Bernama
