NIBONG TEBAL, Aug 8 — The National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) Mahir initiative, enabling parents to purchase school uniforms on an instalment plan, is helping to ease their financial burden.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said in addition to making it easier for families to obtain school necessities, the initiative also creates income opportunities and empowers local entrepreneurs under Nadi’s guidance.
“As the Member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal, I see this as an excellent programme for the people,” she told reporters after officiating the Madani Kita programme in Nibong Tebal today.
Also present were Ministry of Communications (Telecommunications Infrastructure) deputy secretary-general Mano Verabathran and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission State Affairs chief officer Bukhari Yahya.
The school uniforms are sewn by 120 alumni of the Nadi Mahir Jahit programme, who had undergone skills training through its Pintar Services and are now successful entrepreneurs.
Elaborating further, Fadhlina said various initiatives implemented through Nadi have directly benefited the community, including the Nadi Tuisyen Rakyat, e-sports, skills training and entrepreneurship programmes.
Over 42,000 students nationwide have joined the Nadi Tuisyen Rakyat programme, with more than 73 from Nibong Tebal. The programme produced 65 outstanding students in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.
She said youth involvement through Nadi E-Sukan is a platform to uncover talent and boost confidence and teamwork among young people.
She noted that Nadi’s achievements in Nibong Tebal include winning the national Nadi E-Sukan Madani Mobile Legends title, finishing as runners-up at the Penang state level, and placing second in the Penang state-level Cooking Star competition.
Nadi also provides exposure to AI through various programmes, including the 1 Nadi 1 Prompt Engineer initiative, which has so far attracted 11 participants in Nibong Tebal. — Bernama
