KUCHING, Oct 31 — Holders of Kuching parking coupons have until November 30, 2025 to return their unused coupons for a refund, following the city’s transition to the new Kuching Smart Parking System beginning tomorrow.
In a joint statement, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) said the refund exercise marks the end of the coupon-based parking system, which will be fully replaced by the digital platform.
Members of the public can get their coupons refunded at the Kuching City Parking System Office, Ground Floor, Lot 9688 and 9692, Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim.
Refunds apply to coupons purchased this year between January 1 and October 31, within the following serial number ranges:
- 20 sen: AP05530001 – AP09530000
- 50 sen: BB3426001 – BB3506000
- 80 sen: CB0750001 – CB0780000
Coupon holders are advised to make their refund claims early to avoid last-minute congestion at the counters.
“With the implementation of the new system, the use of parking coupons will be completely discontinued,” said DBKU and MBKS.
DBKU and MBKS also said the shift to the smart parking system is part of efforts to enhance convenience for users, improve enforcement efficiency, and support Kuching’s transformation into a smart and sustainable city.
They also expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation during the transition and reaffirmed their commitment to improving urban living through the adoption of digital and data-driven management systems.
Pay & Go has been appointed as the concessionaire for the Kuching Smart Parking System under the jurisdictions of DBKU and MBKS, with full operations scheduled to begin in January.
The trial phase for the digital platform starts tomorrow.
It has been reported that the transition coincides with the expiry of the existing parking concession held by Kuching City Parking Systems Sdn Bhd. — The Borneo Post
