IPOH, Sept 8 — A woman, 29, suffered head injuries after being hit by a branch of a falling tree while under a gazebo in Rimba Segari, Pantai Remis near here yesterday.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division asst director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said that the department received a call at 8.24pm and found that the tree had also crushed a vehicle.

“The victim was brought by a Civil Defence Force ambulance to the hospital before the firefighters arrived. The operations chief conducted a ‘size-up’ and instructed firefighters to cut the tree branches that obstructed traffic using chainsaws till the situation was deemed safe,” he said in a statement tonight, adding that operations were completed at about 10.30pm.

Meanwhile, Pantai Remis Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Muhammad Hanafi Mohamed Rasidi said the victim who had gone to the area for a recreational outing with her family was said to have been cooking under the gazebo during windy conditions that caused the nearby tree to fall and hit the gazebo and their vehicle. — Bernama
