KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching has denied allegations that a Palestinian flag was flown during the National Day parade on August 31 which was held in Putrajaya.
In a Facebook post earlier today, Teo addressed the claims that had surfaced online, clarifying the situation with a photograph showing two military helicopters with flags attached.
“The truth: The flag in question is the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces (RMAF) flag,” she explained.
Teo urged the public to stop spreading false information and instead focus on the true spirit of Hari Kebangsaan, which is about unity. She also reminded people to verify facts before sharing them online.
In her post, Teo included an image of the RMAF flag and a screenshot of the viral message, marked with the word “fake.”
The false message had accused the Armed Forces of flying a Palestinian flag during the National Day flypast, calling it “disgusting” and claiming that no sovereign country should fly another nation’s flag during its independence celebration.
