BINTULU, July 22 — The Bintulu-Jepak Bridge project has achieved 82 per cent completion and remains on schedule for its expected completion date, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development said the bridge is anticipated to be open to the public by February of next year.
“I have been briefed by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) and I am pleased with the progress of the project.
“We hope it will be open to the public by February 2025,” he told TVS in an interview during a working visit to the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge yesterday.
Despite encountering some challenges, Uggah said the team has effectively resolved them.
He commended all parties involved, including the contractors and JKR, for their diligent work.
“This bridge is a source of pride for Sarawak as it is among the significant bridges we have constructed in the state,” he said.
Regarding the Sebauh Bridge project, Uggah mentioned that it has reached 20 per cent completion.
He said although it was previously categorised as a problematic project, it is now expected to be completed on schedule following the appointment of a rescue contractor. — The Borneo Post
