KUCHING, Jan 27 ― The new Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar arrived here today to begin his new role.
He arrived at the Kuching International Airport (LTAK) on a special flight, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, at 11am.
Present to welcome the couple were Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the two Deputy Premiers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, as well as other members of the state Cabinet and community leaders.
Wan Junaidi, 77, is scheduled to take his oath as the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak at the State Assembly this Monday (January 29).
He was appointed the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak by Article 1 of the Sarawak Constitution for a four-year term until January 26, 2028.
He takes over from Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud who had held the post for three terms from March 1, 2014. ― Bernama
