KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — The Parliamentary Select Committee on Human Rights, Elections and Institutional Reforms is the most appropriate platform to provide clarifications on the High Court decision on a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi from the current charges.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said this is in view of the structure of the Parliamentary Select Committee which did not interfere in politics and is fair as well as meticulous in carrying out its duties.
“The committee had earlier assisted in formulating the Anti-Hopping and Generational End Game (GEG) bills.
“As such I asked other members of Parliament (MP) as well as the people to give space and time to the Select Committee to provide a report on the matter (DNAA) before it is tabled in Dewan Rakyat,” he said.
The MP for Lembah Pantai made the comments after launching the Kelana Jaya route LRT train with the theme “Cerita Malaysiaku” in conjunction with Malaysia Day here today.
Yesterday, chairman of the committee, William Leong Jee Keen said the committee would be calling Attorney General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh and former AG Tan Sri Idrus Harun to clarify on the DNAA decision. — Bernama
