JOHOR BARU, Sept 12 — Malaysian United Democratic Alliance’s (Muda) Puteri Wangsa assemblyman Amira Aisya Abd Aziz confirmed that she will no longer be seated with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) bloc in the Johor state legislative assembly, following the party’s decision to withdraw support for the unity government.

She said the decision is in line with that of Muda president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman on Sunday that the party will no longer be with PH-Barisan Nasional (BN) in the unity government.

“So, as Muda deputy president, I am also with the party’s decision to leave the PH and BN blocs.

“This is in-line with the aspiration to maintain the political principles that Muda and I have brought since the Johor state election last year,” she said in a statement on her Facebook today.

Earlier, Johor state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Mohd Puad Zakarshi confirmed Amira Aisya’s new seating position with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) bloc in the state assembly.

In a statement, he said the decision was following a notification letter from PH balancer bloc leader Andrew Chen Kah Eng and based on a media statement by Syed Saddiq.

Amira Aisya said that despite no longer being with PH, the state and the people of Puteri Wangsa constituency will remain a priority regardless of the challenges or tests that she faced.

She pledged to continue on the people’s mandate from the last Johor state election until the next election.

“I believe that new politics requires each representative to take responsibility handed down from the people and the voters.

“The decision made by Muda is to continue to protect that trust,” said the first-term assemblyman.

Following Mohd Puad’s statement, Amira Aisya will now be seated next to the three PN state lawmakers, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) Bukit Kepong assemblyman Datuk Sahruddin Jamal and it’s Endau assemblyman Alwiyah Talib and PAS’ Maharani assemblyman Abdul Aziz Talib in the state assembly.

Chen, who is also DAP’s Stulang assemblyman, issued a strongly worded statement yesterday saying Amira Aisya was not welcome to be seated with the PH bloc in the state assembly.

He also slammed Muda for being ungrateful even though PH has helped them before this.

Chen, who is also Johor DAP secretary, expressed his disappointment in Muda after Syed Saddiq referred to DAP as a “lapdog”, a reference to the Muar MP calling the party Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s “lapdog” last week.

On Sunday, Syed Saddiq announced that Muda has decided to be a “third force” in Malaysia’s politics by becoming an opposition party.

Taking to social media to make the announcement, he said in a brief video clip that this decision was made after discussions within Muda, showing the contents of a letter which he said had been sent to the Dewan Rakyat speaker regarding this matter.

Last Thursday, he slammed DAP as allegedly being hypocritical and lacking principles in a bid to stay in power after he was criticised for calling out his own allies in the government over the Attorney General’s Chambers move to discontinue Zahid’s trial.
