PETALING JAYA, Aug 10 — Actor Farid Kamil and his wife, actress Diana Danielle, are legally divorced today after nearly 11 years of marriage.
Farid, or his full name is Farid Kamil Zahari, 42, pronounced the divorce against Diana, whose full name is Diana Danielle Danny Beeson, 32, before Petaling Syariah Lower Court Judge Shukran Yusof in an online proceeding conducted through Google Meet here today.
He pronounced the divorce with “talak satu” against Diana after the court granted the divorce application filed by the woman.
In allowing the divorce application by Diana, Shukran ordered her to undergo the “edah” period starting today until three monthly periods.
Diana filed the divorce application last March 10 under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003 on the grounds that she and Farid had irreconcilable differences and there was a shiqaq (prolonged dispute) that they could no longer live together as husband and wife.
The couple got married on Nov 3, 2012, and are blessed with two children, Muhammad, 10, and Aurora, eight.
The court also allowed the application by both parties to withdraw the nusyuz claim they filed against one another.
Earlier, lawyer Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, representing Diana, said both parties had reached an agreement to divorce and on related issues after the divorce.
Lawyer Syarie Fakhrul Azman Abu Hassan, representing Farid, confirmed the agreement and said his client could not attend the court proceeding today as he was unwell.
"As such, we request that the divorce proceedings by my client be conducted online, which is Google Meet," he said. — Bernama
