KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — Just a few hours after resigning as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member, Dr Muhammad Faiz Na’aman said that he is ready to join rival PKR.
After reportedly leaving Bersatu for irreconcilable differences, Faiz told news portal MalaysiaKini that his vision aligns with PKR values.
“I am open to any offers and I have always respected the existence of PKR because the principles of their struggle do speak to me a lot.
“So I am open if PKR feels that they can see me as an asset and I also have an agenda that is more or less the same for the country in terms of fixing the economy and so on,” he was quoted as saying.
When asked whether he was sulking after not being picked by Bersatu as a candidate for the state election, he reportedly denied and reiterated that his principles no longer align with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) lynchpin party.
He reportedly said there’s no reason to throw a tantrum after not being selected as a candidate as he has experienced that before.
“This is a combination of various factors which led me to take such drastic action. It is not just about not becoming a candidate,” he added.
Earlier today, it was reported that Faiz has resigned from his position and announced that he has exited the party.
In a letter that was written to the party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin sighted by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia, Faiz said that his decision was not made by the influence of any party.
Previously, Faiz has expressed his dissatisfaction with PN’s selection of candidates for the August 12 Selangor state election.
Dr Muhammad Faiz also said that he has been accused of sabotaging his party and PN’s campaign efforts due to his comments but asserted that it is his duty as a Bersatu supreme council member to champion the voices of the party’s division chiefs and youth leaders from Selangor.
