KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today apologised to the residents of Taman Medan and Dusun Tua in Selangor for his absence from a Jelajah Perpaduan Madani event two days ago.
The prime minister said he had to host Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei as the head of government, and had to forgo the scheduled Madani ceramah tour which overlapped with the three-day state visit to Malaysia.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt apologies to the people of Taman Medan and Dusun Tua for not being able to be present at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani at both locations on Thursday.
“I was attending to the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, during his visit to our country," Anwar said in a statement on his official Facebook page.
To make up for the missed event, Anwar Ibrahim announced his upcoming schedule for tomorrow.
“Insya-Allah, this Sunday (6 August 2023) I will go to Taman Medan at 9pm followed by Ampang (10pm) and Hulu Kelang (11pm).
“I extend an invitation to all unity advocates to attend and show your support for PH-BN in Selangor,” the Pakatan Harapan chairman said.
Anwar has been keeping a hectic schedule criss-crossing the country since the “unity government” that was formed after the general election stalemate last November.
The coalition federal government includes former political rivals PH and Barisan Nasional.
Both coalitions have also teamed up to take on the Perikatan Nasional in the state elections this August 12 in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu, Penang, and Kelantan.
Early voting is on August 8.
