SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — The police arrested seven men, ranging from their teens to 20s, to assist in the investigation of the recent altercation at a restaurant in Pandan Indah, Ampang, near here, yesterday.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said all the suspects were arrested on the same day. The investigation found that the brawl was due to a misunderstanding involving motorcycle groups.
“The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code,” he told a press conference here today.
Earlier, a 30-second-long video went viral showing more than 10 men engaged in a fist fight and throwing chairs at each other.
Commenting on the hunger strike in front of the Sungai Buloh Prison, which entered the third day, Hussein said a total of 44 family members, including eight children, were still in the area as of 2pm today.
“Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 4(2)(f) and Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, as well as Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, and advised those involved to dismiss,” he said.
Yesterday, the media reported that 100 family members of 69 Sosma detainees staged a hunger strike in front of the Sungai Buloh prison. — Bernama
