KUALA LIPIS, July 15 — The high-speed satellite broadband service, CONNECTme NOW provided by Measat Global Berhad (Measat) at Pos Sinderut, has provided the residents here with a line to the outside world, said Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
“The Orang Asli children need internet access for their education and it is important for daily life nowadays. Measat provided a two-week free trial and the service has been working well for the past nine months. I hope to see this project extended to other villages,” he told reporters here today.
Earlier, he launched the KampungDigital365.com initiative at Kampung Orang Asli Tual B, Pos Sinderut, which was also attended by Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and NGO Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal.
The CONNECTme NOW service is an initiative under KampungDigital365.com, a collaboration between Measat and Parcel365 Sdn Berhad to provide internet services and entrepreneurship training, which is expected to benefit about 4,000 residents in the area.
Meanwhile, village chief Yok Ek Cantan expressed gratitude for the service saying, prior to this, they had to go five kilometres out to make calls or access the internet. — Bernama
