KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has claimed that more high-ranking former Umno leaders are expected to join the party in time for the state polls next month.
Hamzah who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general said that the leaders had previously held high-ranking senior posts in government, both state and federal, as well as internationally.
“Actually, more will be joining us soon,” he was quoted saying by Astro Awani, referring to former Umno leaders.
“We will make an announcement soon in Selangor,” he said at a dinner event in Larut last night.
Hamzah, who has repeatedly claimed that top Umno leaders will be joining Bersatu, said that it was only a matter of looking for a suitable date and venue as they will be expecting crowds from Terengganu, Kelantan, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
“Because there are a lot of people, we are looking for a suitable venue so we can make the announcement for everyone,” he said.
Earlier at the event, Hamzah accepted membership applications from former Umno division chief for Larut, Datuk Faizol Arby Mohd Shohor, and former Batu 6 Selama division chief Sayuti Hussin.
