KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has condemned a recent statement by caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, in which he allegedly insulted Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah over the appointment of the state’s menteri besar.
The Lembah Pantai MP was quoted by Berita Harian as saying that Muhammad Sanusi’s actions seemed to indicate a ‘know-it-all’ personality who no one could dispute.
“There are things he says that I cannot accept. Before this, I was warned not to touch the issue of race, religion, and royalty (3R).
“The Council of Rulers has decreed... Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has mentioned it... and the Inspector-General of Police (Tan Sri Razarudin Husain) has reminded (the public).
“Recently, he belittled the Selangor Sultan by mocking him. That is considered uncouth and defiant. This is Perikatan Nasional (PN) politics for you,” said Fahmi.
The Malay national reported Fahmi saying as such in his capacity as a speaker during the Madani Tour programme at Dewan Serbaguna Haji Omar in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Tanjong Karang last night.
The PKR politician was asked to comment on Muhammad Sanusi who had compared the Kedah and Selangor Rulers by allegedly questioning the appointment of caretaker Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Fahmi also reminded Muhammad Sanusi, who is also the PN election director, that he is accountable and responsible for everything that he says.
“I do not want to say anything more (than what has already been said). If you dare to say it, then you must be ready to bear the consequences,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
Earlier, it was reported that Muhammad Sanusi had allegedly insulted Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in his speech during his visit to Selangor yesterday.
In a video, Muhammad Sanusi could be seen making disparaging remarks about the appointment of Amirudin.
