KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — A special parliamentary meeting will be held in September for a mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) tabled.

According to the Parliament website, the special meeting will run from September 11 to 19, with the two final days allocated for ministers’ replies.

On March 14, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli had told Parliament that the mid-term review would be tabled in Parliament in October this year.

The economy minister reportedly said that parts of the review were conducted with several international institutions such as the World Bank, and as well as other agencies.

According to PKR Subang MP Wong Chen, he has received the notice informing lawmakers of the special meeting.

“12MP was tabled September 2021, so I suppose it is okay to review (it) after two years,” Wong said when contacted.

On September 27, 2021, the prime minister at the time, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, tabled the 12MP in Parliament, laying out the government’s five-year roadmap to achieve prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable growth for the country.

Ismail had said that 12MP would focus on efforts to revive the nation’s economic growth after the devastating Covid-19 pandemic.

He also said the 12MP aimed for a fair and equitable distribution of wealth among the states and population while safeguarding the environment and sustainable development.
